James and his traveling companion (which used to be me--yes, again, one of those children), are the oldest characters in the mythology of the world. James, seen as an ultra rough sketch in back, is the timid one (in other words, the character that was actually like me as a kid).
I wish I could name this abdal, it is driving me crazy. But this is her toward the very beginning of the story, young and displaced from her world.
Of course I have other interpretations, most notable the "Child of Bloom" illustration, which is more of her coming into her power and becoming more aware of her role.
I also have other sketches, of her much older and well settled in her role as the guardian of James (and the world). Below is her looking very sophisticated. It must be between hardships, no one's hair is that neat.
This is more natural, though I'm still working through costuming. One of my big problems with the way Angelborn works is it is very much like a fantasy world, but there are sci-fi elements (what was wrong with me as a kid?) and fusing the two threads into something not corny has been a serious challenge in pushing the whole world forward. I think my serious saving grace may be my obsession with alternate realities.
If anyone has any good reads that combine fantasy and scifi well, I'd love a reading/watching list. My little Firefly, Doctor Who, Fringe, His Dark Materials, Fullmetal Alchemist list I enjoy doesn't seem to be enough to help me tie the narrative together. Maybe I just need to get my act together and finish reading The Dark Tower series.
