I digitally colored my character sketches of the adbal from Angelborn who wanders around with James I was down to two names, Rory (Aurora) or Perry (Peregrine), but my sister approves of Rory and I think she is right that it should be the name that sticks.
Now for last names, the list (in no particular order):
Callaghan
Sterling
Locke
Hall
Hale
Hart
Harper (what's with these 'h' names)
Dyre
Brook
Thompson
Davis
Ward
Gray
Stone
I am leaning toward a one syllable last name (as you might guess from the list), on account of Aurora being such a syllabic first name. Also, I want her name as a nickname and last name to roll off the tongue easy and seem "normal". You know, James sticks out like a sore thumb, she shouldn't.
I also digitally colored James (so now you can compare). I wonder if his name will stick as James Aldwin Drakon now ... I think the last name needs tweaked again before I go running off with the story.
Actually, digital coloring makes me realize how bad structurally some of this drawing was (embarrassing). Perhaps this is why I shouldn't draw after midnight? Of course, I was rushing to ink this one before the MSU Comics Forum. As it stands, I can see he is going to get costume tweaks still. His outfit looks too much like Quatre Raberba Winner's from Gundam Wing. Still messing with hue and saturation to get just the right kind of ethereal blond for his hair too (warmer than Gavin's, still whitish).
Rory Harper/Aurora Harper
ReplyDeleteRory/Aurora Gray
urora Stone sounds okay but for some reason Rory Stone trips me up.
I vote Harper or Gray. I'm leaning toward Gray. (Rorian Gray? Ohgod... LOL Now I'm picturing Christian being a pest by insisting on calling her that. SHUT UP, BRAIN!)
Okay, so no giving you art supplies after midnight. Got it. Art gremlin. :P
Whoa, I didn't even think of the Dorian Gray connection (lam-o me, and I love that book). Hrm ... He would call her Rorian Gray, but if he wrote it, the name would then be ROARian Grrrrrrray (yes caps). Oh heavens, Christian really is coming back to life rather quickly, eh?
ReplyDeleteThe Stone name worked better with Peregrine/Perry (I also loved that concept of meaning: a wandering rock=planet, *giggles*, maybe a name for a totally different character somewhere along the line).
And definitely, art gremlins after midnight. I've had to explain that to more than a few teams. Luckily, I wake up while everyone else is still sleeping the next morning refreshed and ready to draw.
