The first is of Celeste, Gavin's twin. She dies at the beginning of his part of the tale, rather the catalyst for his adventures. She's always been a troublesome character to draw, but these sketches have captured many ways she should look. Also, if you look carefully, you can see where I decided to try and draw with my left hand (I sometimes get the desire to do things like that). That could be because Gavin is left-handed.
But I'm not done yet.
Villains always get me, and James's father is a real baddie, but also ... charming. Charm runs in the family to a degree. Now, once upon a time, his father was also Mordred, but I haven't decided as I'm working out the larger narrative if this Arthurian connection is really going to stick. I'm also not sure if this character design is going to stick (the bottom right is my favorite, though).
Finally, I was toying with the character Alexis for the first time in a while--this wasn't the most serious sketch, but I'm playing around with her character. She's a troubled young woman, and shares Sight similar to Gavin, but has dealt with it far less ... reasonably. Also on this page I was sketching Janus, a character I'm toying with that may be some kind of apparition that appears to Gavin on his adventures. She blends the look of his two sisters with a bit of her own characteristics (in her hair). We'll see if this idea sticks, as it is rolling around in my head.
